England and Wales will experience arguably their toughest match of Euros 2025 when they battle each other tonight.

Coming up this evening we have the match up we have all been waiting for…

England vs Wales

The final match of group D will be at the Arena St Gallen in Switzerland at 20:00 BST where England will be needing a win to finish either first or second in the group to progress into the quarter finals.

England are the favorites for this rivalry game with fans waiting in anticipation to see how they will perform. Hopefully it will be similar to their strong display against the Netherlands last week, with their defensive wall and players actively pushing forward to create pressure on the Dutch defence.

England's head coach Sarina Wiegman described how the team's morale is up and players are able to bond on and off the pitch which makes them a strong team to compete with.

Wiegman said “Of course [the players] have to perform again and show that in good results and that's what we are going to try to do today.”

Team morale is particularly important when there is huge pressure for the Lionesses to win.

The girls have proven their resilience in bouncing back from a 2-1 loss to France to scoring four goals on Wednesday (9 July). They are a fighting team.

The player in the middle, Ella Toone, is wearing jersey number 10, and the player on the right, Alessio Russo, is wearing number 23. A third player is visible in the background.

Wales still have a chance to secure second slot in the quarter finals if they score highly against England. But with Wales being 25 places behind England in the world rankings it does seem unlikely. Not to mention, England have never lost a match to Wales in the ten times they have played one another, however in 2018 the two sides drew 0-0 at the final whistle.

The player on the left, Sophie Ingle, is laughing and has her arm around the player in the middle. The player in the middle, Lois Joel, is wearing jersey number 17 and is smiling broadly. The player on the right, Hayley Ladd, is looking down while holding a water bottle.

In the new conference today, Welsh head coach Rhian Wilkison didn’t give away much about Wales’ tactics heading into the match, however she highlighted that England do have weaknesses (like every team) and hopes that Wales can exploit these in tonight’s match.

The pressure is all on England as they will need to perform and be resilient, just like when they faced the Netherlands. Wales do have the ability to cause an upset to the English side - they showed this when playing against France, despite a 4-1 defeat.

Wales are yet to win a match against a top 10 team, yet they have played some amazing football during this tournament and should be proud to have made it to the group stages.

The player on the right, Gemma Evans, wearing number 7, is smiling and has her arm around Cain. Other players in green jerseys are visible in the blurred background.

In this match-up Wales have nothing to lose so causing an upset to the English side would be a win for them.

Both sides have the ability to win this match, however with England being the big favorites and showing how strong of a side they are, they do have the upper hand in tonight’s game.
