Charli XCX Marries George Daniel in Intimate London Ceremony

Pop star Charli XCX and George Daniel, drummer for The 1975, have officially tied the knot in a low‑key ceremony in London. The pair said “I do” on Saturday 19 July during an intimate gathering at Hackney Town Hall. 


With just around 20 close family and friends in attendance - among them Charli’s parents and Daniel’s bandmates Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald - the ceremony was strikingly personal. Matty Healy, frontman of The 1975, was notably absent, reportedly due to commitments in Los Angeles. 


Charli, real name Charlotte Aitchison, wowed in an off‑the‑shoulder Vivienne Westwood ivory dress - a modern mini gown with a corseted bodice - complete with a full-length veil and her trademark chunky black sunglasses. George kept it classic in a tailored dark suit, neutral shirt, and a white boutonniere to match her bouquet.

The couple made a casual entrance and exit, walking down the art-deco steps amid a shower of confetti. Videos shared online show them smiling and sharing a kiss outside the venue, then slipping into a relaxed post-ceremony smoke break. 


Their romance began after collaborating on the 2021 track Spinning with No Rome, and became public in March 2022. They announced their engagement in November 2023 via Instagram, featuring a tea‑tray shot of Charli’s ring and her celebratory caption: “charli xcx and george daniel f‑‑‑ing for life!!!”


In addition to being life partners, Charli and George are creative collaborators. He produced multiple tracks on her 2022 album Crash and her 2024 chart‑topper Brat, including standout cuts like Club Classics and Apple, with Charli even name‑dropping him in her lyrics. 


While this London ceremony was intimate and understated, insiders say a grander celebration is planned in Sicily later this summer. Reports describe it as a lavish, no‑expense‑spared affair set for mid‑August, promising a star-studded night with celebrity friends. 


For now, the newlyweds are basking in their private moment - Charli strutting through confetti, smouldering sunglasses in place, and George by her side - marking the start of their married life together.
